Overview: The Step Forward Sports Program is pleased to launch its’ Junior Buddies Program, assisting children ages 5-10 with developmental challenges in the Eastern Maine region through the power of sports. This program will specifically correlate with the schools seasons at middle and high schools, while also building a foundation of sports in the region through the younger ages.
Program Objective: Kids will learn the following skills of the sports listed below. Kids will then also build important physical, language, and social skills that will prepare them for future success in their schooling and lives.
Program Long-Term Goal: Our long-term goal is for kids to see the value that sports can have on their livelihoods and how it can help express their own feelings and passions as an individual.
Program Curriculum:
Week 1: Fitness Activities: Kids will do several fitness games & activities SUCH AS: parachute troopers, sharks & minows, capture the flag, etc. - A brief introduction of basketball will take place the next week.
Week 2: Basketball: Kids will learn simple skills and will play fun games of basketball through a fun and safe approach that simply gets them to enjoy the game.
Week 3: Basketball & Indoor Soccer: Kids will learn simple skills and will play fun games of basketball & soccer through a fun and safe approach that simply gets them to enjoy the game.
Week 4: Indoor Soccer & Bowling: Kids will learn simple skills and will play fun games of indoor soccer through a fun and safe approach that simply gets them to enjoy the game.
Week 5: Bowling: Kids will learn simple skills and will play fun games of bowling through a fun and safe approach that simply gets them to enjoy the game.
Week 6: Recap of All Sports (This session will be longer): Kids will recap all the sports that they have played, and will have the choice of playing TWO of the sports for activities in the last session.

Time: Mornings (10:00am-1:00pm) - 3 Games Per Sunday

Cost: $70 Per Player, $55 Per Additional Player (related to family member)
